Strawberry is considered very loving on children and adults. It is a good source of vitamins, low in calories and rich in potassium, iron and calcium. Strawberry varieties have undergone cultivation and improvement processes over the years that allow us to enjoy them as ornamental plants. The mulberry is a plant that is convenient for it to dangle like a waterfall, so it creates a special and attractive look in the design of the house, the balcony or the garden, with hanging baskets of strawberries, decorated with green leaves and red fruit.
I suggest hanging the baskets with the hook on the balcony ceiling or arm attached to the wall. When designing the design, keep an open and original mind. For example, you can hang on each arm a double basket with differences in height of each, or even a triple basket.
Like most plants, strawberries do not respond well to excess water. Therefore, it is recommended to irrigate only after checking whether the growth medium is dry by inserting a semicolle into the depth of the substrate and not based on contact with the upper layer, which does not reflect what is happening in the root environment. Check the drainage of the growth medium if it does not drain well and quickly. The roots may rot in the wet environment. It is only in the first two days after planting that irrigation is necessary, in order to maintain favorable conditions for acclimatization. Then, just keep the soil moist and not allow the soil to dry.
Place the strawberry baskets in a sunny place. So choose the area most exposed to light for them. If this is not possible, it can be placed in a partially lit area and exposed to the sun for an hour each side of the pot. To obtain beautiful strawberries, it is recommended to add 1-2 good handfuls of compost to the potting mixture and liquid fertilizer rich in phosphorus once every two to three weeks.
It is not recommended to plant the plant too deep, but rather to the depth in which it was in the nursery, so that the growth of the plant will not cover the stems, leaves and fruit and will cause decay of the plant. Tuff or small pebbles should be placed on top of the soil to prevent parts of the plant from touching the soil and covering it with soil. If you live in an area characterized by cold nights, you can protect the strawberries by covering them with plastic sheet or transparent nylon. But when heated even slightly they must be removed, otherwise fruits will rot from the heat and humidity.
The plant is relatively small and its root system is not deep, so the growth of two seedlings that created a dense and rich mirror will suffice with a 25 cm flower pot and a depth of 20 cm. The mulberry can be grown in all types of potted plants such as planters, railing planters and vases.
