The Radish is a root vegetable, which is extremely easy to grow in an organic vegetable garden. Radishes are grown in the cool months, all they need is some sun and moist soil to grow well, they need very little room, making them the perfect vegetable to grow in even the smallest vegetable garden or even in containers. The radish plant grows up to about 90 cm (35 inches) in height. The leaves are rough and divided and the flowers are white to pale purple in color and have dark veins. The fleshy edible part usually has a red skin and firm white flesh. Radishes have a mild to peppery taste, and are rich in vitamins and other nutrients.

It is used as a digestive, anti stomachic, diuretic and blood purifier. It is germicidal and suppresses wind bile and phlegm. Radish is used to treat skin disorders, such as eczema. Also, eating one radish a day is very effective for one’s eyesight.
